Welcome
to Brain Waves
My
daughter attended the Reptile Vet camp last summer and the
Karate camp this past March Break and she loved both of them.
The night before the Reptile Vet Camp, she was a bit nervous
about the reptiles, but you would never have guessed that
at our dinner table after that first day! She bubbled over
with amazing facts about reptiles throughout our dinner. We
could barely get a word in ... all week!
The March Break Karate Camp was another amazing experience.
My daughter proudly presented the board she broke through,
to her class upon return to school.
The children's presentations at the end of the week, showed
me that it was not only my daughter who enjoyed the camp.
All the children were beaming with pride as they presented
a reptile or demonstrated breaking through a board after only
a week of Karate.
Well done Brainwaves, learning, building self confidence,
exercise and fun, all in one camp! ~Anna
I
just wanted to let you know that I think Brain Waves is the
best kept secret in the Ottawa camp scene! My son has attended
several camps over the last few years and this is by far his
favorite.
My son has lots of questions about science, so based on the
recommendations of a few friends, I decided to try out the
Brain Waves camp. My son loves it and it actually becomes
a challenge to pull him out of there at the end of the day!
Brain Waves does a great job of making science and learning
a fun and interactive experience for a wide range of ages.
The credentials of the camp developer are amazing –
she is an electrical engineer and a mother who encourages
the children to push themselves to the next challenge with
a wonderful nurturing disposition. The other staff at Brain
Waves are also very warm and provide wonderful guidance to
the children. They are also extremely attentive, especially
to the younger children, ensuring that they eat their lunches
and snacks and stay well hydrated through the hot day. The
day itself is well structured and balanced with lots of time
for free play and cooling off from the July heat.
I usually learn one or two new facts about science from my
son on the way home from Brain Waves Camp. We left for the
beach in the middle of the final camp week and my son was
disappointed, claiming that he would rather spend his time
at Brain Waves than the beach. Thanks to all of you for creating
such a stimulating and fun summer experience for our kids!
We will definitely be back next year!! ~Sheli
Brain
Waves camps are excellent! You have got to try it! My children
are repeat campers for several years now and they love it.
The camp is fun, instructional, organized and has a great
variety of activities. There is a good balance of inside and
outside activities including the occasional water fight! There
is a cool outing at the end of each week that the kids really
look forward to as well. The only sad thing is that our son
is now too old to go to the camp. He has had such a blast!
Thank you very much. ~ Linda R.

What's
New for 2008?
Summer
camps 2008 now posted.
Again
this year, we are running an After-School Science Program
for the students at Bishop Hamilton School.
What are parents saying about us?
This
is the second year for my kids at Brain Waves. They loved
it! Every day they learned new things and had a lot of fun
too. They especially enjoyed the variety of subjects and the
unique, hands-on activities. And they got to learn things
they have never seen anywhere else. There's no other summer
camp like it.Thanks. See you next year!
~Brian V.
This summer was my son's first experience with a Brain Waves
camp and he absolutely loved it. After each day, he would
bubble over with enthusiasm with what he had learned and what
was planned for the following day. I especially liked the
welcoming and calm atmosphere upon entering, and the smiles
on all the faces of the children after a
day of learning and fun. The camp staff (senior and junior)
were engaged and readily interacted with kids and parents.
I learned something new from the counsellors every day I picked
up my camper. Now at the end of summer, my son tells me that
the Brain Waves camp he attended early in the season was by
far the best experience with camp he
has ever had. We will definitely return for camp next summer,
and look for other Brain Waves opportunities such as the PD
day events this coming school year. ~Allison B
