Testimonials

My daughter attended the Reptile Vet camp last summer and the Karate camp this past March Break and she loved both of them.

The night before the Reptile Vet Camp, she was a bit nervous about the reptiles, but you would never have guessed that at our dinner table after that first day! She bubbled over with amazing facts about reptiles throughout our dinner. We could barely get a word in ... all week!

The March Break Karate Camp was another amazing experience. My daughter proudly presented the board she broke through, to her class upon return to school.

The children's presentations at the end of the week, showed me that it was not only my daughter who enjoyed the camp. All the children were beaming with pride as they presented a reptile or demonstrated breaking through a board after only a week of Karate.

Well done Brainwaves, learning, building self confidence, exercise and fun, all in one camp! ~

I just wanted to let you know that I think Brain Waves is the best kept secret in the Ottawa camp scene! My son has attended several camps over the last few years and this is by far his favorite.
My son has lots of questions about science, so based on the recommendations of a few friends, I decided to try out the Brain Waves camp. My son loves it and it actually becomes a challenge to pull him out of there at the end of the day!
Brain Waves does a great job of making science and learning a fun and interactive experience for a wide range of ages. The credentials of the camp developer are amazing – she is an electrical engineer and a mother who encourages the children to push themselves to the next challenge with a wonderful nurturing disposition. The other staff at Brain Waves are also very warm and provide wonderful guidance to the children. They are also extremely attentive, especially to the younger children, ensuring that they eat their lunches and snacks and stay well hydrated through the hot day. The day itself is well structured and balanced with lots of time for free play and cooling off from the July heat.
I usually learn one or two new facts about science from my son on the way home from Brain Waves Camp. We left for the beach in the middle of the final camp week and my son was disappointed, claiming that he would rather spend his time at Brain Waves than the beach. Thanks to all of you for creating such a stimulating and fun summer experience for our kids! We will definitely be back next year!! ~

Brain Waves camps are excellent! You have got to try it! My children are repeat campers for several years now and they love it. The camp is fun, instructional, organized and has a great variety of activities. There is a good balance of inside and outside activities including the occasional water fight! There is a cool outing at the end of each week that the kids really look forward to as well. The only sad thing is that our son is now too old to go to the camp. He has had such a blast! Thank you very much. ~ Linda R.

I cannot say enough good things about your camp. My son attended Brain Waves for the first time this year and it has been the best camp experience he has ever had. He was very disappointed when it was over! The themes were age appropriate, and interesting, and included both indoor and outdoor activities. The counsellors were very enthusiastic, caring and mature. The camp itself was well organized. It is wonderful to be able to go to work and have peace of mind that your child is being well looked after in a fun, safe, learning environment. I especially appreciated having before and after camp childcare. Obviously, the camp coordinator has put a lot of thought and effort into making Brain Waves a unique camp experience that exceeds expectations for both parents and children. Both my boys will definitely be attending next year. Thank you. ~ Nipa

Just a note to let you know how much my son enjoyed Karate & Science Camp during March break.
He is especially looking forward to his third summer with your Reptile Camp program, we have him in several camps over the summer, and the reptile is his favourite.
He's made a lot of great friends at your camps and likes seeing them again over the years. The counselors you have are terrific and have also become friends over the years to me and my son. ~Ann

Welcome to Brain Waves

As any parent knows, kids are natural learners. Their curiosity about the world around them is insatiable, and it’s hard for parents - even teachers - to keep up with their desire for new knowledge.

At Brain Waves, we’ve developed science and technology enrichment programs that give children a fun and challenging environment in which to satisfy their natural urge to learn about the world. Our innovative curriculum helps kids learn about aspects of science and technology that are “off the beaten track”, and that they usually won’t see in school.

All our programs take a hands-on approach to discovery. We don’t just show kids how things work. We teach them how to find out for themselves, using hands-on activities, games, crafts, and the chance to build and use real instruments and machines.

Above all, our programs focus on children… to help them develop into confident, curious, and intelligent individuals who learn the joy and challenge of discovering things for themselves!

I developed Brain Waves after 18 years industry experience as an Electrical Engineer and two years teaching Math and Science. Supported by an amazing group of teachers, students and volunteers, we are now enjoying our sixth year! Many thanks to all the families who have become a part of our family at Brain Waves.

What's New for 2009?
Check back in January to see about our March Break camps.

What are parents saying about us?

This is the second year for my kids at Brain Waves. They loved it! Every day they learned new things and had a lot of fun too. They especially enjoyed the variety of subjects and the unique, hands-on activities. And they got to learn things they have never seen anywhere else. There's no other summer camp like it.Thanks. See you next year!
~Brian V.

This summer was my son's first experience with a Brain Waves camp and he absolutely loved it. After each day, he would bubble over with enthusiasm with what he had learned and what was planned for the following day. I especially liked the welcoming and calm atmosphere upon entering, and the smiles on all the faces of the children after a
day of learning and fun. The camp staff (senior and junior) were engaged and readily interacted with kids and parents. I learned something new from the counsellors every day I picked up my camper. Now at the end of summer, my son tells me that the Brain Waves camp he attended early in the season was by far the best experience with camp he
has ever had. We will definitely return for camp next summer, and look for other Brain Waves opportunities such as the PD day events this coming school year. ~Allison B
